Greenville County is changing.

If left unchanged, the current growth of Greenville County will consume many of the special places and landmarks that give Greenville County its high quality of life, even as soon as 2040.

The County’s 2020 Comprehensive Plan calls for the identification and protection of “critical open space… and important rural vistas” as a top priority for the County, along with developing “strong and durable partnerships” for “protection, tourism, and parks and recreation.”*

The Greenville County Historic and Natural Resources Trust is a key tool in the conservation of our special places.

We are an independent agency of Greenville County that funds projects to preserve Greenville County’s Historic and Natural Resources.

We believe in the importance of preserving Greenville County’s historic structures, iconic mountains, natural areas, and farms. We work with established organizations to fund projects to ensure those areas are protected for generations to come.
