A 25-50 acre property consisting of Piedmont seepage forest, a rare ecosystem that supports the bunched arrowhead, a federally endangered species. The property borders two streams with over two thousand linear feet of frontage. The property is in a rapidly developing area and has frontage on a major, multilane highway.
Grant Request: $70,000

Leverage Ratio: $9.50 to $1.00
Status: Approved for funding by the Trust Board at $50,000, pending closing and other due diligence.

This application was for capital improvements, for the building of a trail, not for “interest in lands”, thus not eligible for consideration and was withdrawn.
Project 12
A 50-100 acre mountain property that borders a SCDNR Heritage Preserve and other protected lands. It has frontage on a state road providing easy access. With mature hardwood forests, a half-mile of headwater streams, and ridgetop views overlooking Greenville County, this site will provide not only wildlife and Saluda River watershed protection, but also increased public recreation opportunities.
