Update on Greenville’s Newest Regional County Park

Join us on Wednesday, May 29 at 10:00 am at Oakland Plantation, 259 Adams Mill Road, Simpsonville, SC for an update update on Greenville’s Newest Regional County Park.

Plans for Greenville County to acquire the lands and create both the county’s first historic/nature park have been in the works since late 2023.  This event will highlight the important next step in the process as the County assumes ownership of the property from the nonprofit, Upstate Preservation Trust, with funding provided by the Greenville County Historic & Natural Resources Trust and the South Carolina Conservation Bank.

Oakland Plantation will be unique among the county’s array of parks with both a focus on our area’s plantation history while providing significant space for unstructured play and outdoor exploration in one of the county’s fastest growing areas. Speakers will provide updates and next steps on turning the 50+ acre Oakland Plantation into Greenville County’s newest regional park.

Speaking will be:

  • Greenville County Historic & Natural Resources Trust Chairman Carlton Owen

  • YMCA of Greenville CEO Scot Baddley

  • Upstate Preservation Trust Vice Chair Lindsey Strand)

  • Greenville County Council Chairman Pro-Tem Butch Kirven, District 27
